Valle Caldera National Monument, also called a Preserve, has become one of our favorite places to visit. We first happened upon the Valle Caldera by accident as we were driving Highway 4 toward Los Alamos and noticed a big area, an expanse that looked like an ancient volcano; then we noticed the sign for the Valle Caldera and as it was open, decided to stop in to visit them. Since then, it has become one of our favorite places to add periodically when we are in the White Rock area. We had visited Bandelier National Monument that day and since Valle Caldera was just down the road, we decided to visit them that day too.
