When we are in the Albuquerque area, a visit to San Felipe de Neri Church has become a part of our routine as Rich knows how much I enjoy Churches and Cathedrals. Since the Church is located on the Old Town Plaza, we generally walk around and look at some of the shops in the area.
The Historic Old Town Plaza
This historic plaza has been a gathering place for centuries and is surrounded by old buildings that have character and charm, enticing you to embrace the shops, galleries, and eateries that are sprinkled throughout the area. The day we were there, there were Native Americans in front of the La Placita Restaurant, displaying their artwork, which was available for purchase.
While there were no events going on when we were there, I understand Old Town Albuquerque offers different Cultural Events and Festivals throughout the year, which sounds like a lot of fun. You can visit the City of Albuquerque website for more information about events in the Old Town area.
Good to Know
Most of the shops are open daily. There is a parking area located on the east side of the Old Town Plaza through a corridor of shops. Restrooms are located on the southwest side of the Old Town Plaza past the fountain.
The Old Town Plaza area is a must if you enjoy the historic charm of the southwest area. There are many different shops in the area. We enjoyed perusing the shops for a couple of hours while there.
