Recently we were in the Oklahoma City area for my nephews wedding and took the opportunity to visit Red Rock Canyon State Park in Hinton Oklahoma. An interesting tidbit of information is that according to the Oklahoma Parks Department, it was once a stop on the famous California Trail in olden days.
We have visited Red Rock Canyon a handful of times throughout the years as it is a favorite family memory for Rich, as his family camped here when he was young. This park is a beautiful park with yes, red rock canyons; there are cliffs or perhaps I should say hills one can climb, which we did on this trip.
The park offers camping and restrooms, as well as picnic areas, nature trails and a small fishing pond. For those who love exploring the outdoors, it is a great place to visit and offers panoramic views. We hope when you are in the area that you will take time to visit this wonderful treasure. You will be glad you did.
